“In My Heart” is the first solo full length CD from singer/songwriter Chris Cruz. This acoustic guitar based album is as eclectic mix of Folk, Americana and Rock. Chris merges his influences and strikes at the center of American music, which lays somewhere in between Woody Guthrie to Tom Petty. This is a collection of songs about lost loves, lust, the loss of treasured friends and the unexpected joy and terror that comes from learning to love again. Venturing off the beaten path Chris allows himself to stray into his College band past by adding horns into deeper musical arrangements.
This CD is the first part of a two part collect the other CD “On My Mind” being songs from facing a troubled world and corporate greed.

You hold in your hand a year of my life that took a lifetime to face. We started recording the album as a chance for me to document some of the music I had written at a time in my life that was filled with turmoil. I had a flood of songs filling my head and straining my heart. So much so that we ended up making two albums at once. This one is the songs that were In My Heart. Songs of lost loves, the loss of treasured friends and the unexpected joy and terror that comes from learning to love again. The other album is songs that were On My Mind, a nation at war, questionable leadership, and the crushing feeling that comes from multinational corporations pushing their products at you in a non-stop ad campaign. But back to this album, in the process of compiling these songs I returned to my roots. A man and an acoustic guitar with something he needs to say. I also found myself bringing into the mix my high school band and college music influences. This is me. It is who I am and maybe who I want to be.
